As It Relates to Podcasting is the go-to podcast for entrepreneurs, coaches, consultants, and content creators who want to launch, grow, and monetize a high-impact show that actually supports their business.
Hosted by podcast strategist and producer Simona Costantini, this podcast teaches you how to start your show with confidence, increase your downloads, attract sponsors and collaborations, streamline your systems, and turn your episodes into a revenue-generating marketing engine.

Podcast growth in 2026 means showing up as the answer when someone asks AI a question in your niche. Not just ranking on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
If you're wondering why your podcast isn't growing the way it used to, you're not alone.
I just spent six months away from As It Relates to Podcasting. I had my daughter, Sunny. She came 10 days early, I hadn't batched enough episodes, and I called a full hiatus.
But I didn't stop working with podcasters.
I spent those months speaking at events, leading workshops, and judging for the Signal Awards, the International Podcast Awards, and the Women in Podcasting Awards. I also judged the PodGround grant, where VOLT Productions sponsored one of the fall cohort grants.
And in every room, I heard the same thing.
Podcasters are having a hard time connecting with their audience. They're having a hard time getting in front of the people they want to reach.
The way people find experts has changed. Here's what's working now.
Podcast growth in 2026 depends on discoverability in AI search, not just traditional SEO.
AEO and GEO decide whether your show is recommended when someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini, or Google AI a question.
Your show title, description, episode titles, and show notes all shape how AI understands your podcast.
Visibility works in tandem: guest appearances, great guests, niche solo episodes, and search-ready content.
Consistency beats volume. Publish episodes that are worth your listener's time.
Podcast growth in 2026 means being the show people find when they have a problem you solve.
For years, growth meant downloads, chart rankings, and Apple Podcasts search.
Those still matter. But your listener isn't only typing keywords into a podcast app anymore.
They're asking AI.
They ask, "What's the best podcast about hormone health?" Or, "Who's an expert I can learn leadership from?" The AI answers with a short list of names and shows.
If your show isn't on that list, you're invisible to that listener.
That's why so many podcasters feel stuck. Your message hasn't stopped mattering. The way people search for it has changed.
SEO gets your podcast ranked in search results. AEO and GEO get your podcast recommended as the answer.
At VOLT Productions, we optimize every client show for all three. We were doing it before "getting found in AI search" became a buzzword. And it's why our client shows are breaking through the noise and becoming the shows that get recommended when people ask specific questions.
SEO | AEO | GEO | |
Stands for | Search Engine Optimization | Answer Engine Optimization | Generative Engine Optimization |
Where it works | Google, YouTube, Apple Podcasts search | Featured snippets, voice assistants, AI answers | ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews |
The goal | Rank on page one | Be the direct answer to a question | Be named and cited in an AI-generated response |
What it rewards | Keywords in titles and descriptions | Clear, question-led answers | Specific, trustworthy, consistent expertise |
Here's the simple version.
SEO helps people find your episode.
AEO and GEO help AI trust your episode enough to recommend it.
You can test your podcast's AI visibility in about 10 minutes. Here's how.
Open your favorite AI platform.
Type in three to five questions your ideal listener would actually ask. Use their words, not yours.
Write down every podcast and person that comes up in the answers.
Visit those shows. Study how they title their episodes, how they name the show, and how they write the show description and show notes.
Compare what you see to your own show. Where are they clearer? Where are they more specific?
If your podcast is about podcasting, ask, "What's the best podcast about podcasting?" or "How can I learn podcasting from an expert?"
If your show is about something totally different, ask the questions your audience asks you every week.
The results will tell you exactly where you stand.
AI can't listen to your episode the way your audience does. It reads the text around it.
So every individual piece matters. And it matters a lot.
Your show title. Does it tell AI and listeners exactly who the show is for and what it's about?
Your show description. Does it name your expertise, your audience, and the problem you solve?
Your episode titles. Do they match the real questions people search for?
Your show notes. Do they answer questions directly, with specifics, so AI can quote them?
Your transcripts. Is the full conversation published as text on your website, where search engines and AI can read it?
The shows that come up in AI answers aren't always the biggest. They're the clearest.
If you're using AI to write your show notes, don't publish the first draft. I break down exactly how to use it without sounding generic in AI for Podcasters in 2026: The Right Way to Use AI Without Losing Your Voice.
Podcast visibility only works when it's working in tandem with everything else you put out.
That means:
Being a guest on other podcasts
Bringing incredible guests onto your show, if you have a guest format
Recording solo episodes that are so niche and so targeted they cut through the noise
Building content for the way algorithms and AI search today
Each one sends a signal. Together, they tell your audience and AI the same thing: you're the go-to person in your space.
A month or two after Sunny was born, we added podcast guest pitching to VOLT Productions.
We pitch our clients as guests on other podcasts. We also find great guests for their own shows. And we do it differently than most agencies do.
I priced this service at a very reasonable rate on purpose. In my opinion, the industry charges way too much for it.
We even put me on our own pitching roster. The results have been incredible. We've been securing amazing podcasts for our clients and getting them in front of the right audiences.
That's the point. Guesting puts you where your next listener already is.
Ask yourself:
How are you showing up online?
How are you showing up for your current audience?
How are you finding a new audience to tap into?
If you can't publish episodes that are truly helpful, a planned pause can be better than publishing inconsistently.
When I started missing weeks, I made a choice. Instead of scrambling, I called a full hiatus and planned to come back in the fall with brand-new episodes.
Business got busy almost overnight. We expanded services. We grew the team. And it was summer with a brand-new baby.
Something had to pause. I chose the podcast, because I wanted every episode to be impactful when it came back.
If you're running on empty, you have permission to step back. Just come back with a plan.
As It Relates to Podcasting is now back with weekly episodes. And my other show, Happiness Happens, returns this fall.
Over the next few weeks on As It Relates to Podcasting, I'm walking you through my 10 podcast growth systems, one episode at a time.
This is the same framework I've been teaching in workshops over the last six months. Every time I deliver it, people tell me it's exactly what they needed, and that it's so detailed.
You shouldn't miss out just because you weren't in the room.
The series covers how to connect with your audience, how to get in front of new listeners, and how to get your podcast found in AI search.
Follow the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube so you don't miss an episode. And share it with a podcasting friend who wants to grow.
Grow your podcast in 2026 by making it easy to find in both traditional and AI search. Use clear show and episode titles, specific show notes, and published transcripts. Pair that with guest appearances on other podcasts and niche episodes your ideal listener is searching for.
AEO, or Answer Engine Optimization, is the practice of structuring your podcast content so search engines and AI tools can pull it as a direct answer. For podcasters, that means question-led titles, clear show notes, and transcripts that answer specific listener questions.
GEO, or Generative Engine Optimization, helps your podcast get named and recommended inside AI-generated answers from tools like ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews. It rewards specific expertise, consistent positioning, and content AI can trust and cite.
Start by asking AI the questions your audience asks and seeing which shows come up. Then study their titles, descriptions, and show notes. Make your own metadata clear, specific, and consistent across every platform you show up on.
Yes. Guesting puts you in front of an audience that already listens to podcasts in your niche. It also adds your name to more trusted sources, which strengthens your visibility in both search and AI answers.
Yes. A planned hiatus is better than publishing inconsistent episodes that don't serve your audience. Tell your listeners when you'll be back, and return with a clear plan.
